iPhone Launch: Skip the Line, Get Yours First
The iPhone hits the shelves on June 29th to what is sure to be initial supply shortages. I can just picture people showing up the night before just to be sure they're one of the lucky few to get one on launch day. But, there's a little trick I learned the other day so that I can skip the line and still get an iPhone on June 29th. A few months ago Apple started offering an in-store training program called One-to-One. At $99/year it's a great, inexpensive way to learn a lot about the different Apple tools and technologies. Once you sign up you can select what you want to learn and when you want to come in. OK, here's the cool part: The time slots available for training begin one hour before the Apple store opens. Here's what you do: Sign up for One-to-One. Then, sign up for training on June 29th for 9am. (The stores here in Austin open at 10am.) You'll need to be one of the first handful of people to sign up depending on how many trainers that your local store has. As of today there are still plenty of slots available at my store. On June 29th, show up an hour early. You'll have to let the person at the door know that you're there for One-to-One. They'll probably check your ID but, once inside, you can tell your trainer to show you the iPhone! Then, at 10 when the doors open, grab one and check out. Now you can enjoy that new iPhone knowing that you not only have the best phone on the planet but you're one of the smartest people around. I know I will! |

CANCELLED
I just got an email from Apple that they have canceled all One 2 One training for June 29th. I guess we'll have to wait in line just like everybody else. :-)
